Being an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and a small design consultancy allows McBerns the flexibility along with our in-house knowledge to respond efficiently and effectively to our client’s needs.
Prior to commencement of contract McBerns Will Provide:
- Project Management Plan covering aspects such as
- project delivery schedule,
- staff on project,
- key milestones and hold points,
- identified risks and proposed control measures,
- list of proposed sub-contractors and other external resource inputs etc.
- A project delivery document is signed off by the client and project manager prior to commencement.
Regular, typically weekly, in-house meetings are conducted for specific projects. Each project will have a communication plan in place identifying key project stakeholders, milestones, roles and contact details.
McBerns projects undergo review by the allocated project coordinator and client liaison, a role which is separate to the project manager. All office and site meetings are documented on the McBerns QA register.
McBerns is a corporate member of several industry related organisations and receives regular magazines, journals and industry briefings via print and electronic media. McBerns regularly displays and presents at industry events such as AWA, WIOA and IPWEA seminars and trade shows.
McBerns has attained Quality Management System Certification in accordance with ISO9001:2008 Quality Management Systems and also conforms to ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems and AS/NZ 4801:2001 OH&S management systems standards.

McBerns has sucessfully completed a 3 year contract with Unitywater to design, fabricate and install various McBerns aluminium LFPR safety access covers and safety grates.
Contract – UW00330012 VPS
In consultation with Unitywater McBerns designed the LFPR, this design has incorporated the handrail system that prevents Fall from Heights. The SEQ spec was found to be incapable of retrofitting without a lot of cost due to the hinge arrangement.
McBerns also installed the bracket and grate system, this was where the lid was in an acceptable condition but needed fall protection. McBerns Aluminium Safety Lids are now installed across 215 SPS within the Unitywater Precinct.

In conjunction with Taswater McBerns designed the LFPR system to suit their needs.
Taswater has now retrofitted 330 MCBERNS Aluminium Safety Lids across Tasmania.
All Access Covers were supplied to Taswater for them to install.

McBerns was approached by SCIRT following the Christchurch earthquake. They were looking to fit new lids that were a Load Rate “B” but light weight.
We designed and built the Load B LFM around their specifications and this access cover is now used across New Zealand
